Conclusions

Parallel computing can be viewed as a very efficient tool to solve large and complex problems either in order to speed up the response or to overcome lack of resources. The state-of-the-art message passing libraries enable to port the parallel applications to various combinations of hardware and software platforms. Moreover, the parallel computation has become quite feasible even for small offices that can create a parallel environment by interconnecting individual workstations into a cluster by standard Ethernet. Such a cluster can even outperform parallel supercomputers at substantially lover investment and maintenance costs.
