Adaptive Simulation of Behaviour of Materials
with Strain Softening

The present paper deals with h-adaptive analysis of quasi-brittle materials characterized by strain softening. The adopted scalar damage material model is regularized using the nonlocal continuum concept. To assess the distribution of the solution error a residual-based error estimator is employed. This is then integrated with appropriate refinement strategy into a truly adaptive framework, which is presented on an example.
