The Mass Concrete App - Temperature Module is an easy-to-use app that enables predicting maximum temperature in mass concrete structures. The prediction are based on mix composition and ambient conditions.
Basically, the Finite Element Method and the Affinity Hydration model are used as basis for the predictions. Concrete properties such as heat capacity, thermal conductivity, and density considered in the prediction are standard values for structural concrete. For more details on the Affinity Hydration model, refer to [1,2].
The difference between 1D numerical solution and nomogram yields an error of ± 6.8°C. The nomogram is not intended to replace complex thermal analysis, rather to provide a quick and reliable preliminary estimation of maximum temperature.
