Construction-Related Research at the Belgian Institute for Wood Technology

The Belgian institute for Wood Technology supports the wood processing industry. There are three main tasks: technical guidance for companies, research to support wood industry and certification. We have experts in different areas (structures, wood material, preservation, etc.) During this presentation, an overview of our construction related research will be given. A few topics are:

1. Racking resistance of light frame wooden walls
2. Stability of log buildings
3. Hygrothermal response of wooden buildings
4. Creep of wood based sandwich panels
5. Connections
6. Dimensional stability of sandwich systems

For each topic, the problem statement, the research results and the implementation in industry will be discussed.
