My research aims primarily on modeling of time-dependent behavior of concrete and concrete structures and the influence of moisture transport on drying shrinkage, creep and cracking. This topic follows from my Ph.D. thesis which revealed several discrepancies in the Microprestress-solidification theory for concrete creep.
I am also interested in behavior and modeling of confined concrete. The findings will be applied to optimization of reinforcement in rectangular columns with the innovative multispiral reinforcement layout which provides enhanced strength and ductility at lower cost and labor.
In my research I rely on FE simulations done using open-source Finite Element solver OOFEM.
